In April, I attended the Tony Robbins ‘Unleash the Power Within’ event. After being a fan of Tony Robbins for years, seeing him in the flesh was truly incredible.
I had been looking forward to the UPW event for months, but what I had been anticipating most was the Firewalk Experience. The Firewalk consists of walking across a bed of hot coals between 1,200 and 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit.
The first day of UPW focuses on how to turn fears into positive actions. This helped prepare and motivate everyone for the Firewalk later that day. I learnt that in order to achieve what you want in your life, you need to be free from the unconscious fears that hold you back.
On the way to the Firewalk the atmosphere was incredible. Thousands of people were walking barefoot to the Firewalk singing and chanting ‘YES YES YES!’. I felt united and empowered amongst the crowd. I could feel the adrenaline in my body and in that moment I was ready to conquer my fears.
When we got closer to the Firewalk we could hear people cheering. While in the line waiting to do the Firewalk you could see the people in front storm across with their head held high. At this point I had mixed emotions of fear and excitement.
Before I knew it I was next to walk across the hot burning coals. In front of me I had one of Tony’s crew motivating me, preparing me. They asked me if I wanted to conquer my fears, which I replied ‘YES!’. They told me to look up, and then moved out the way and said ‘GO!’. I stormed across the coals in a few big strides. I could feel the adrenaline pumping through me as I crossed. After walking across the coals my heart was racing and I felt a strong sense of achievement. If I could of, I would of turned around and done it again.
There was a mutual feeling of accomplishment and motivation when leaving the Firewalk experience. People were cheering, high fiving and patting each other on the back. The feeling was truly incredible and sharing the experience with thousands of people was even more amazing.
I aim to return to UPW in the future and do the Firewalk experience again, but this time without the fears I had before. I want to walk across fire with nothing but pure excitement and motivation. After this experience I am proud to say that I am a Firewalker.
