Yes, we are all born under different circumstances. However, it is important for one to understand that being born into an unfavourable environment is not something to dwell about. If someone has done something that you desire under similar circumstances, then there is nothing to complain about. There is over seven billion of us on earth, therefore chances are there is always someone that is in a much worse situation than you. We live in a time where it has never been better to be a human being. Keep that in mind, and you will find much more value in the little things in life, which will ultimately make you a more successful person.
Sometimes, the biggest obstacle on the road to success is the lack of optimism. Unfortunately, positive thinking does not come naturally for most people. It is in your DNA whether you look at the glass half full or half empty. People who are born into a very negative thinking family will most times struggle with that, and it is hard to break out of. However, if you are someone that is naturally a positive thinker, spread it out! Make positivity loud so that the people around you will become more positive themselves.
A big problem amongst most ambitious young people, especially college graduates, is that they want everything to happen too fast. This leads to decisions which will bring short term success, however are not practical in the long run. If you realise that there are no shortcuts to success, you will find yourself in a much better place. Enjoy the work, the adversity, the struggle and trust the process, and the success will come. Get a mentor and learn from others, so by the time you wake up and are 30 years old, you have your whole life in front of you while having already done great foundational work.
Self-awareness is one of the biggest keys to success. You have to identify the things you are good at, and do them for the rest of your life. Being self-aware does not just mean betting on your strengths, it also means that you accept your shortcomings. While it is good to admire someone, it is also equally as important to stay true to yourself. Everyone has their own weaknesses for a reason, and the moment you become aware of your shortcomings, your life goes on the offense.
Nothing in this world is given, it is your obligation to go out there and earn every opportunity. Nobody you know has become successful without working their face off. If you have big dreams and aspirations, you have to back it up by working. It is the only way to get where you want to be. Sometimes you have to forget about balance. If you aim for permanent balance, you will oftentimes get mediocre results. This means that if you have an important project going on, you might have to check out from your friend group for a certain amount of time, or spend less time with your family for a couple of weeks. If you decide to have less balance temporarily, you will be more focused and commited to achieving your goals.
